YMCA Kanawana - 114 years of Spirit and Leadership

“ Wherever you go, whatever you do – you’ll always be a Kanawanian …”

In 1894, the YMCA of Greater Montreal laid the foundation for the first residential camp in Quebec. YMCA Kanawana was founded on the principles of sharing, togetherness, and appreciation and respect for the natural environment. Over the years Kanawana has developed a rich set of traditions and programs, and has earned a reputation for leadership and excellence in residential camping and outdoor education.

Much has changed since 1894, but we are still rooted in these guiding principles. At YMCA Kanawana, we are committed to providing children, youth, their families and their communities with opportunities to take a break from urban life, to live simply, learn new skills and develop new friendships.

We are excited to continue in this rich legacy and these are indeed exciting times for YMCA Kanawana as we embark on a development plan that will only lead to greater things and improved facilities for future generations of Kanawanians.
