A sense of responsibility toward the natural environment and each other
The YMCA’s unique characteristics provide campers with the opportunity to:
Develop leadership abilities. Establish wholesome daily health habits. Develop increased strength, endurance, and experience fun and adventure in a supervised and safe outdoor program. Satisfy their primary emotional needs for affection, acceptance, new experiences and a sense of worth. Gain an understanding of and appreciation for persons of other religions, cultures, nationalities and races. Develop a sense of responsibility toward the natural world and one's place in it. Adjust to group living in a democratic setting by instilling a sense of independence, self reliance and appreciation of one's interdependence with others. Learn and enjoy a wide range of skills and activities, physical, social, cultural and environmental that may contribute to wholesome recreation in later years.
