YMCA resident summer camping is about:
  • An educational experience in democratic group living
  •  A concern for the individual
  • Leadership
  • Cooperation

The YMCA’s unique characteristics provide campers with the opportunity to:

  • Establish wholesome daily health habits.
  • Develop increased strength, endurance, and experience fun and adventure in a supervised and safe outdoor program.
  • Satisfy their primary emotional needs for affection, acceptance, new experiences and a sense of worth.
  • Gain an understanding of and appreciation for persons of other religions, cultures, nationalities and races.
  • Develop a sense of responsibility toward the natural world and one's place in it.
  • Adjust to group living in a democratic setting by instilling a sense of independence, self reliance and appreciation of one's interdependence with others.
  • Learn and enjoy a wide range of skills and activities, physical, social, cultural and environmental that may contribute to wholesome recreation in later years.
